Is A Star Science free?
Yes — A Star Science is completely free to download and use. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and no subscriptions. All 8 topics and 110 levels with 1,750+ questions are available from day one.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use A Star Science in guest mode without providing any personal information. Your progress will be saved locally on your device. If you create an account, your progress syncs across devices and you can appear on the leaderboard.
What year levels does the app cover?
A Star Science covers Year 7–10 aligned to the Australian curriculum. Year 7–8 topics include Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Earth Science, and Scientific Method (10 levels each). Year 9–10 covers Chemistry II, Biology II, and Physics II with 20 levels each for deeper content.
How does the placement test work?
When you first open the app, a 10-question adaptive quiz assesses your current skill level and places you at the appropriate starting point. You can always go back and complete earlier levels if you want.
What happens when I get a question wrong?
Every question has a detailed explanation. After each quiz, you can tap “Review Mistakes” to see each wrong answer alongside the correct answer and a full explanation of the science behind it.
My progress disappeared — what happened?
If you were using guest mode, your progress is stored on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data will erase it. To prevent this, create a free account so your progress is saved to the cloud. If you had an account and your progress is missing, please contact us.
Is there an Android version?
A Star Science is currently available on iOS only. An Android version is planned for a future release.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account directly in the app: go to Profile → Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account and all associated data. Alternatively, send an email to privacy@astarlearner.com with the subject line “Delete my account” and we will process your request within 30 days.
